Air Assault Operations Flashcards
Identify the five component plans of an air assault
Begin with the ground tactical plan and work backwards to the staging plan*
1) Ground Tactical Plan
2) Landing Plan
3) Air Movement Plan
4) Loading Plan
5) Staging Plan
Boots on deck, cover fire by helicopters, PCCs PCIs, duct tape in windows
Identify the three types of insert / extract tactics
-X: less that 300m of the objective (Small arms range)
-Y: >300<1,000m of objective (med/hvy mgun range)
-Offset: >1,000m f/ objective (outside med/hvy gun range)
**The closer the less the GCE has to move, but may be too dangerous. Balance based on a conversation between GCE and ACE. How many helps can fit? Min boots on deck? May need a larger zone further away.
Define Go Criteria / No-Go Criteria
Go is set for GCE and ACE. Friendly based (equip, personnel, conditions)
No GO is set for GCE and ACE. Enemy and Wx based. **We cannot mitigate this so we will not play.
Define Ice /Cherry
-Ice: zone has enemy activity that is BELOW the pre-briefed risk tolerance of the mission commander for the ground and air assets.
-Cherry: zone has enemy activity that is AT or ABOVE the pre-briefed risk tolerance of the mission commander for the ground and air assets.
Define Immediate Re-embark and Emergency Extract
-Immediate reembark: Permissive environment. Expeditious embarkation of troops to move them to another location in resins to an insert abort (Desert becomes flooded, dropped off at the wrong LZ)
-Emergency evacuation: Semi to Non-permissiive environment. Extraction of a unit that is in contact or contact is imminent with an overwhelming enemy force. Trying to get them out of there
Identify billet responsible for completing the Assault Support Serial Assignment Table (ASSAT)
AFC
Identify information provided by the Assault Support Serial Assignment Table (ASSAT) and Assault Support Landing Table (ASLT)
-ASSAT: Assigns serials to personnel and equipment (serials defined by mission capabilities), with weights, and includes the bump plan).
-ASLT: Assigns serials to waves to LZs on a time schedule. Which serial is going to on which aircraft
