They benefited from some policies but not the majority of them.

A

Scared the government - they wouldn’t want a violent group having more power.
White people aren’t going to pass legislation that makes them inferior.
Scared people from supporting.
Lead to a split in the movement - CORE, SNCC move to violence.
Government can’t be seen to work with black power.
