How can you make ethanol from ethene and steam?
A
1) A temperature of 300 degrees and a pressure of 60 - 70 atmospheres
2) Phosphoric acid is used as a catalyst

How can you make ethanol from fermentation?
A
1) Using sugar cane you add yeast to a sugar solution and leave this in warm conditions(30 degrees) for seven days in the absence of air (anaerobic)
2) Once the batch is complete it must be purified through fractional distillation

How can ethanol be oxidised?
A
1) Burning in air or oxygen(complete combustion)
2) Reacting it with oxygen in the air to form ethanoic acid(microbial oxidation)
3) Heating it with potassium dichromate in dilute sulfuric acid to form ethanoic acid
