Associated with endometriosis & fibroids

Outline the pathology & aetiology of Adenomyosis
A
Endometrium appears to grow into the myometrium to form adenomyosis
Extent varibale, may be enlarged

Outline the clinical features of Adenomyosis
A
Symptoms - non - Pain, regular, heavy menstrual bleeding Signs - Mildly large/ tender uterus

Outline the investigations for Adenomyosis
A
Can be seen on MRI
Not easily seen on Ultrasound

Outline the treatment for Adenomyosis
A
Medical Menorrhagia/ dysmenorrhoea: - Progesterone intrauterine system (IUS)/ COC pill - +/- NSAIDS Surgery - Hysterectomy often required
