Adaptations of Energy Systems (ES) Flashcards
State the 5 adaptations of energy systems
Increase in creatine stores
Increased tolerance to lactic
Improved aerobic system
Increased use of fats as an energy store
Increase in glycogen stores
Define ‘Increase in creatine stores’
Your body will adapt and be able to store more creatine in the muscles
Define ‘Increased tolerance to lactic’
Anaerobic training stimulates the muscles to become better at tolerating lactic acid and clearing it away more efficiently
Define ‘Improved aerobic system’
Long term exercise will improve the ability of the aerobic system to produce energy, improving the CV and allow increased oxygen to be delivered.
Define ‘Increased use of fats as an energy store’
Allows the release of oxygen to be more sustained for a long period of time
Define ‘Increase in glycogen stores’
An adapted body will allow an increased quantity of glycogen storage. Means that ATP can be resynthesized for a longer period of time.
