Active Transport & ATP 🚗 Flashcards
1
Q
What is active transport?
A
Movement of molecule - against conc. gradient - uses energy and carrier molecules.
2
Q
How are the carrier proteins activated?
A
Energy from ATP
3
Q
How does active transport happen?
A
- Substance travels to and binds to the receptor site of the carrier protein.
- ATP is hydrolised and becomes ADP
- Energy is released which helps carrier to pump substance through.
4
Q
How does ATP become ADP?
A
It is hydrolised
