how to do active listening?
A
- pay attention and listen attentively to the speaker
- let the speaker discuss his/her ideas comfortably
- withhold judgment and advice
- do not interrupt and wait until the speaker finished talking
- be attentive, notice (and use) non-verbal cues, and show interest with eye contact
- empathize with the speaker
- give your feedback and respond appropriately
- asking open-ended questions to encourage further responses
- paraphrasing and reflecting back what has been said
