Ranson Criteria
For severity of acute pancreatitis
Greater than 3=significant mortality
Initial= Greater than 55 y.o. WBC greater than 16,000 serum glucose greater than 200 Serum lactate dehydrogenase greater than 350 AST greater than 250
48 hours after admission
hemotocrit drop greater than 10 points
BUN rise greater than 5 after IV hydration
Arterial PO2 less than 60
Serum calcium less than 8
base deficit greater than 4
estimated fluid sequestation of greater than 6 L
TIMI risk score

Lights criteria for exudate
Pleural fluid protein/serum protein >.5
Pleural fluid LDH/Serum LDH >.6

pH of exudate=7.3-7.45
pH of transudate=7.4-7.55
RIFLE Criteria
for AKI
Risk: 1.5 fold increase in serum creatinine or GFR by 25% or urine output less than .5 ml/kg/our for 6 hours
Injury: 2 fold increase in serum creatinine or GFR by 50% or urine output less than .5 mL/kg/hour for 12 hours
Failure: threefold increase in serum creatinine or GFR decraese by 75% or urine output less than .5 mL/kg/hour for 24 hours
Loss: complete loss of kidney function for more than 4 weeks (requires dialysis)
ESRD: complete loss of kidney function for more than 3 months (requires dialysis)
