Usefulness and toxicities of ACEI

A

Usefulness: lower BP in HTN pts with elevated renin, ID hypertensives w/o high renin, improve CHF; good in diabetics
Tox: (captopril’s) CATCHH
No ACE means Bradykinin not broken down –> dec TPR and BP
Acute renal failure
HyperK (bc dec of aldosterone)
