When should you refer to the district wellness advisor?

A

You must refer when:
Involvement in critical incidents
Notifiable injury or illness
Threat to life while on duty
DVI incidents
Attendance at delayed recovery of body
Attendance at any unnatural death
Attendance at a large number of critical incidents over short period of time
Operational incidents involving loss of police employees life
When Police interventions fail to prevent loss of life or injury
Death or serious injury involving a baby or child
Attending incidents involving another employees family
Unpleasant or stressful duties

What support is provided?

A

The wellness advisor conduct an initial assessment to determine need for further specialists and support services.

This could be face-to-face or email or telephone.

When there’s an incident thats particular traumatic or the employee is in need of additional support, the wellness advisor will then meet with the employee to determine the need for further specialist assessment and support

They may then make a referral to a psychologist.

A

Yes. When individuals have had a significant exposure to trauma such as a natural disaster or mass homicide.

A
