Q

Group O mother’s + Group A/B fetus = HDN (mild)

Why mild?

A
  • presence of A or aB substance in fetal tissues and secretions reduces the amount of ABO antibody available to destroy red cells.
  • poor development and reduced number of ABO antibody
  • explains why DAT is only weak positive in most cases of ABO HDN
