Abdomen Flashcards

1
Q

List 3 taught points in the abdomen and describe their location

A

Abdomen points

1. CV4

On the anterior midline, 3 cun below the centre of the umbilicus, 2 cun above the symphysis pubis

2. CV6

On the anterior midline, 1.5 cun below the centre of the umbilicus, 3.5 cun above the symphysis pubis (internally ~ at the level of the bifurcation of the abdominal aorta)

3. CV12

On the anterior midline, midway between the sternocostal angle and the centre of the umbilicus, 4 cun below the sternocostal angle and 4 cun above the umbilicus

CV4 location and needling technique

Location

On the anterior midline, 3 cun below the centre of the umbilicus, 2 cun above the symphysis pubis

Insertion

oblique insertion, usually aiming superiorly (with the direction of the meridian)

Depth

0.5-1 cun, do not go past the resistance felt at the linea alba
