Midway on the line connecting the midpoint of the upper margin of the spine of the scapula (SI 12) and the inferior angle of the scapula. Alternatively, locate the point at the junction of the upper one third and lower two thirds on the line connecting the midpoint of the lower margin of the spine of the scapula and the inferior angle of the scapula.

Insertion

Oblique, medial to lateral and inferior to superior (towards the glenohumeral joint).

Nb. Deep needling on an osteoporotic scapula could produce pneumothorax.

0.5-1 cun, no deeper to avoid puncturing the vertebral artery

Caution: avoid deep needling (vertebral artery at ~ 40mm from skin), and avoid directing the needle towards the foramen magnum.

In the depression below the middle of the zygomatic arch, posterior to the masseter and between the coronoid process and the condyloid process of the mandible. The point is located with the mouth closed. If a finger is placed on the point and the mouth is opened, the condyloid process will be felt as it moves forward.
