- Normal, not distressed
- Symmetrical

- No tracheal displacement
- GAEB (good air entering bilaterally)

Airway and C-spine
A
Airway:
- self-maintained
- no facial #, foreign object, swelling/inflammation
Options for compromised airway:
- Intubation
- Tracheostomy
C-spine:
- Immobilized
- Clear clinically

Circulation
A
- Haemo-dynamically stable (HR & BP)
- Apyrexial
- Distal pulses present and equal
- Capillary refill

Neurological Deficit
A
- GCS
- Pupils equal and reactive to light, accommodation (PEARL-A)

Exposure
A
- All clothes to be removed
- Log roll, examine spine and back
- Rectal exam

Clinically Clear C-spine Criteria
A
- Can pain and tenderness be assessed?
- Are there other distracting injuries?
- Is there midline pain?
- Is there tenderness over the cervical spine?
- Any motor or sensory abnormalities?
- Limitations of active neck movement?
- Limitations to head control?
- If these are all absent, collar may be removed.
- If any of these are present, imagine is warranted
