Q

what is the Status frustration theory in Age and crime ?

A

The status frustration theory argues that young people/ adolescents may turn to crime due to status frustration.
This theory suggests that school set certain values and expectations that make many working - class students feel alienated.

Status frustration theory find it challenging to compete and succeed in the education system as a result , turn to crime to gain status since they cannot gain status through educational achievement, . They often want to impress their friends and achieve peer group status so exaggerate delinquent behaviour to do so.
