What is a Level A alert and what action is required?
A warning, RED visual indication with aural alert, requiring immediate flight crew action.
What is a Level B alert and what action is required?
A Caution, YELLOW/AMBER indication, requires immediate flight crew alertness in prep for future action
What is a Level C alert and what action is required?
An advisory, usually AMBER but cant be RED or GREEN, requires flight crew awareness
What are the 3 types of alerts?
Visual, Aural and sensorial
Where are master warning and caution lights located?
on the glare shield
Which warning systems may use a synthetic voice?
GPWS, CAWS nd WSAS
How does the altitude warning system work?
It alerts crew when approaching or deviating from a pre selected altitude
when approaching the higher deviation band an audible tone sounds and a white box appears around the alt. This disappears just before the A/C starts to level off at the lower deviation band.
Entering the deviation band from above or below causes an audible tone to sound
What is the deviation band for a Boeing and Airbus?
Boeing - 300-900ft
Airbus - 250-750ft
What is the only way to cancel an overspeed warning?
slow down back into safe range.
When is the stall warning system inhibited?
on the ground, through the air groud logic switch
What software is on airbus aircraft that makes it impossible to stall?
alpha prot
When would the TO config warning system sound?
stab trim outside TO range
TE flaps not in TO range
LE slats not in TO range
speed brake not stowed
control locks not disengaged
Doors not locked
parking brake applied
