A&P Flashcards
What are considered soft tissue structures of the body?
Muscle
Tendons
Ligaments
Cartilage
What is considered skeletal tissue of the body?
Bone
What are elastic properties of musculoskeletal tissue?
A response to loading, stress, or mechanical forces that cause stretching or deformation of the tissue; but after the stress is removed, the tissue returns to a relatively normal state
What are plastic or inelastic properties of musculoskeletal tissue?
These are manifested at the end range of elastic properties, rendering the tissue unable to return to its normal state. Thus the tissue retains some amount of deformation due to structural injury.
What is the yield point?
It is the point where deformation of tissue moves from elastic to plastic after a certain level or amount of stress
