Question 1

τὴν δὲ μέγ’ ὀχθήσας προσέφη πόδας ὠκὺς Ἀχιλλεύς:

Then swift-footed Achilles, greatly vexed, addressed her:

αὐτίκα τεθναίην, ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἄρ’ ἔμελλον ἑταίρῳ

κτεινομένῳ ἐπαμῦναι: ὃ μὲν μάλα τηλόθι πάτρης

ἔφθιτ’, ἐμεῖο δὲ δῆσεν ἀρῆς ἀλκτῆρα γενέσθαι.

“May I die at once, since I was not destined to aid my
Companion being killed: he perished very far from his
Fatherland, but he had need of me to be a protector from destruction.

νῦν δ’ ἐπεὶ οὐ νέομαί γε φίλην ἐς πατρίδα γαῖαν,

But now I will go to find Hector, the destroyer of my
Dear life; and I shall receive death whenever indeed
Zeus and the other immortal gods wish to accomplish it.
