(peristalsis , consist , movement , water, semi-solid , brown ,stored)
Undigested food passes into the large intestine from the small intestine by peristalsis . Undigested food consists of cellulose , fibres and excretory products such as bile pigments in fluid form . The movement of the undigested food is smoothened by the mucus secreted from the walls of the large intestine . In the rectum , the semi-solid material is called faeces . The brown colour of the faeces is due to the bile pigments in it. The faeces is tored in the rectum temporarily before it is forced out through the anus by the contraction muscles in the rectum . This process is known as defaecation .
