What are reflexive movements?

child is learning to manipulate his or her body through actions
What are specialized movements?
children learn to combine fundamental movements and apply them to specific tasks

codified routes for information processing
What are the two main attachment styles of infants?
securely attached infants
insecurely attached infants
What are the three parenting styles?
- authoritarian
- permissive
- authoritative
What is a basic description of an authoritarian parenting style?
involves attempting to control children with strict rules that are expected to be followed unconditionally
What is a basic description of a permissive parenting style?
allows their children to lead the show
What is a basic description of an authoritative parenting style?
parents listen to their children, encourage independence, place limits on behavior, and consistently follow through with consequences when behavior is not met
