9.1 Flashcards
Acceleration
the rate of change in velocity.
If an object’s acceleration is in the same direction as its velocity, the oject’s speed
Increases
If an object’s acceleration is in the opposite direction to it’s velocity, the object’s speed
Decreases
Zero acceleration means
the object is moving at a constant velocity.
To find a change in velocity
subtract the initial velocity () from the final velocity ().
North, east, up and right are considered
Positve
south, west, down and left are
Negative
Steps you MUST show when solving problems to earn full marks:
Notice how the generic equation is given.
Then the variables are plugged in.
Lastly, the calculate in made. The final answer includes units and it made bold.
Acceleration
the rate at which the velocity of a moving object changes
A change in the velocity can be
a change in either speed or direction.
Zero acceleration
hat the object is not changing velocity. This could mean the object is at rest, or it could mean the object is moving with a constant velocity.
