2.2 phosphurs Flashcards
What does phosphorus do in plants
Root development
Stem strength
Seed production
What does phosphorus do in humans
Works with calcium to develop strong bone tissue.
85% of phosphorus in humans is found in the bones.
Where is phosphorus stored
NOT in gas like carbon, oxygen etc. It is stored in phosphate rock like limestone and the sediments of ocean floors
The phosphate cycle weathering
releases phosphates into the soil.
There can be both
Physical weathering
Chemical weathering
the phosphate cycle plants
plants take up phosphuros in their roots
the phosphate cycle animals
animals eat the plants and get the phosphuros from the plants
the phosphate cycle Decomposers
return phosphate from dead plants and animals to the soil.
