How did Sam Houston feel about joining the United States?
Houston felt as though annexation for Texas would solve many problems, and that it would be approved quickly. Texas was in major debt so he thought by joining the U.S this would go away. Was very supportive of annexation.

The import of goods was harder on the home front, causing many shortages. It also made it harder to export Cotton. In conclusion Texas faced many shortages due to the union blockade.
