737 Systems: Flight Controls Flashcards
Which Hydraulic Systems can power ALL primary flight controls?
A and B
What are the secondary flight controls?
-Leading Edge Devices/Trailing Edge Flaps
-Flight Spoilers
-Ground Spoilers
The trailing edge flaps and leading edge devices are normally powered by hydraulic system?
System B
What happens when placing a FLT CONTROL switch to STBY RUD?
-Activates the Standby HYD System
-Opens the Standby Rudder SOV (to pressurize the STBY RUD PCU)
How are the Rudder, Ailerons, and Elevators operated in manual reversion?
-Rudder: Standby HYD System
-Ailerons/Elevator: Cables
How is roll controlled with jammed ailerons?
-FO Wheel controls Flight Spoilers
(If the Spoilers were jammed, the CA Wheel would control the Ailerons)
How would a single channel failure of the Mach Trim systems be indicated?
MACH TRIM FAIL (amber) light would illuminate during the Master Caution Recall, and would extinguish when the Master Caution System was reset
How is the horizontal Stab Trim normally operated? Is there an alternative way?
-Stab Trim Switches or Autopilot
-Stabilizer Trim Wheels
Can the Speed Trim System be overridden? If so, how?
-Actuation of the Control Wheel Trim Switches (Inhibits further Speed Trim for 5 seconds)
-Manual rotation of either Stab Trim Wheel
Which systems help in identifying and controlling stalls?
-Yaw Damper (Reduces commanded rudder movement at high AOA)
-Elevator Feel Shift Module (Increases control column feel forces up to x2 normal feel in both directions at high AOA)
-Speed Trim (Trims nose down and enables trim above stick shaker AOA)
What factors are used by the Stall Management Yaw Damper computers to determine when a stall warning is required?
-AOA Sensors
-ADIRUs
-Anti-Ice Controls
-Wing Config
-Air/Ground sensing
-Thrust
-FMC outputs
-Mach compensation
What is required to activate the Main Yaw Damper?
-HYD B System
- B FLT CONTROL switch ON
And
-SMYD computers to provide continuous system monitoring
When will the SPEEDBRAKES EXTENDED (amber) light illuminate?
In Flight:
-SPEED BRAKE lever beyond the ARMED position, AND
-TE Flaps extended more than 10
Or
-RA less than 800ft
On Ground:
-SPEED BRAKE lever in DOWN detent and hydraulic pressure is sensed by pressure switch in the Ground Spoiler Interlock Valve
What would cause the Speed Brake lever to automatically stow after deployment on landing or RTO?
Either thrust lever is advances
What does the LE FLAPS TRANSIT (amber) light below the Trailing Edge Flaps indicate?
-Any LE device is in transit
-Any LE device not in programmed position with respect to TE flaps
-A LE uncommanded motion exists
-During Alternate flap extension until LE devices are fully extended and the TE flaps reach 15
(Inhibited during autoslat operation in flight)
