7.3 Spectacle Adjustments Flashcards
COA Spec Adjustments
Panto tilt
Bottom of lens tilted toward face to get more reading power for pt as they look down
Purpose of panto tilt
To get more reading area for pt
Is panto tilt easier with nose pad frames or plastic frames
Nose pad frames are easier to adjust
Retroscopic tilt
Opposite of panto(more common), is less common retroscopic tit, bottom of lens is tilted away from face
Purpose of retroscopic tilt
Lift seg height for distance by just a hair, getting nausea walking down stairs with too much panto
Frame sits to high on nosepad frames
Widen nose pads to lower the frame
Frame sits to low on nosepad frames
Tighten nose pads to raise frame

SEG height
Line bifocal hieght
Progressive lens is a no-line bifocal or trifocal
Trifocal. PAL has distance, computer, and near
Flat top 28 bifocal means
The top of ADD NEAR portion is flat. It’s 28mm wide
Measurement of bifocal seg height vs Trifocal/PAL
bifocal seg height aligns with lower lid margin, trifocal or PAL seg height lines up with lower pupil or iris margin
What will a lensometry read for an add of +2.00 if the top portion of a bifocal reads +2.00-1.75x090
Bottom reads+4.00-1.75x090
