To provide members of the Midwest City Fire Department with knowledge of the basic function, proper care, and maintenance of MSA G1 SCBA and all SCBA accessories.

SCBA will be inspected and undergo a function test every morning at rig check, to include testing of all visual and audible alarms.
Confirm air pressure in the cylinder is at least 4,950 psi.

Change battery when only 2 yellow bars remain.

Every Firefighter will be issued a RFID tag to be used in conjunction with the Asset Tracking Software.

A yellow screen with a wrench will appear if SCBA has accumulated 600 hours of use. This indicates the SCBA needs to be overhauled.

SCBA will be tested by the SCBA committee once a year on a Posicheck flow bench for performance within manufacturer specifications.

All bottles will receive an annual cleaning, using approved cleaners, and inspection for any damage, flaws, or signs of wear.

Each SCBA will labeled with a SCBA unit identifying number (L101, L102, etc.) located under the battery on the harness.

Bottles will be hydrostatically tested every 5 years, as required, for a service life of 15 years.
Cylinder valves overhauled every 5 years to correspond with hydrostatic test date.

Blast Masks are to be utilized as a training tool and/or during PE.

Blast masks will be kept in the rig room with the department supplied hearing protection.

If any SCBA is found requiring maintenance, a request will be submitted through First Due and a SCBA tech or the on duty Shift Commander shall be notified immediately.

There will be three SCBA compressors for the department, one located at Station 1, one located at Station 6, and a mobile air trailer located at Station 6.

The SCBA committee will be responsible for draining the condensate from the compressor.

The SCBA committee Director shall be responsible for collecting a quarterly air sample from each compressor.
