Use of the Training Room must be scheduled through the Training Chief or Public Education Officer.

Any Pub. Ed. events scheduled after hours or on the weekend will be submitted to both the Shift Commander and the Fire Chief for approval.

All open burning in Midwest City shall be subject to the guidelines of the adopted version of the International Fire Code (IFC), Section 307 and Chapter 15 or the Midwest City Ordinances.

Burn Permits are issued for a period not to exceed one year.

Monies collected will be attached to the pink hard copy and placed in the Administration’s designated cabinet for deposit and processing.

The Fire Code Official will check local weather conditions online at www.weather.gov and at the NOAA website each weekday morning by 8:00a.m. to obtain information on current and projected wind speeds for that day.

The parameters for wind speeds to allow burning is twelve (12) miles per hour or less. The inversion factor must be greater than one thousand (1000) feet to allow for open burning. Ozone quality must be above “Poor” conditions.

Open burning (except for small recreational fires in pits or approved bon fires) will only be allowed between the hours of 8:00a.m. and Dusk. No open burning will be started prior to 8:00a.m.

Commercial land clearing operations will be allowed to burn overnight provided that personnel are on site with water or heavy equipment to contain the fire.

Fire department personnel who respond to an “open burn” site may extinguish or order the extinguishment of any fire they deem to be a danger or nuisance to the community, or due to a change in weather conditions regardless of permit status.

Each day one of the Fire Prevention Officers or the Fire Marshal will be on call. This is a weekly rotation beginning Thursday at 7:00 a.m. and continuing for two weeks ending that Thursday at 7:00 a.m. The Fire Marshal will provide ECC with a copy of the monthly call sheet approximately 3 days prior to the end of the month.

Each gate should be inspected at least annually to insure that the emergency operation function is being maintained at all times. (Midwest City Ordinance Section 15-15) Crews shall make contact with the facility representative to request maintenance or repair.
