- removal excess fluid and inhibitory agents

indications for NPWT
A
- chronic (diabetic, pressure, venous stasis ulcers)
- acute (trauma, partial thickness burns, open abdominal wounds, dehisced wounds, exposed hardware and tendons, skin flap, skin graft, degloving)

A
- malignancy w/i wound
- untreated osteomyelitis
- fistulas to organs or body cavities
- necrotic tissue w/i wounds
- wounds w/ exposed vessels
