Definition of social change?
A change in attitudes, behaviour or laws not just with individuals but on a large scale how society has changed.
Briefly explain how the minority would have to show commitment?
Show dedication by making personal sacrifices
Briefly explain how the minority would show consistency?
Have the same belief between all the minority group over a long period of time.
Briefly explain how the minority would have to show flexibility?
Must not be rigid and show willingness to compromise if they want to change the maj opinion
What happens when the min remain consistent,committed and flexible?
They change the beliefs of the majority publicly and privately (internalisation).
What happens when a few member of the maj begin to move towards the min?
The minorities influence gathers momentum and more ppl pay attention, the min idea becomes the majority idea (Snowball effect)
When the maj remember the min idea but not that it came from the min, what is this called?
Social crypto-amnesia
When has social change occurred?
When there is a change in societies attitudes, behaviours and laws.
