What are tiered levels of access
Different people within the organisation will require different access levels to the computer systems and associated information.
What are firewalls
A protective systems that lies between the computer network and the internet.
What is a software firewall
A piece of software installed on to a computer, it also allowed some control over its functions and features but will only protect the computer it is installed on.
What is a hardware firewall
Built into a router or a stand alone device, it provides greater protection than a software based firewall and is easier to administer
What are anti malware applications
A type of software developed to prevent, detect and quarantine any malicious programming omissions individual computer devices and IT systems.
What is obfuscation of data at rest
Protecting data that is not moving through networks
What is encryption of data in transit
Protecting data that is moving from one location to another
What is password protection
Only people with authorised passwords can gain access to certain information
Passwords should include:
Strong combination of numbers, symbols and letters
Not easily guessed
Changed regularly
What is data at rest
Data stored on a laptop, hard drive, flash drive or archived
What is data in transit
Data actively moving from one location to another via the internet or across a private network
