6. Intermediate Design and Detailed Design Flashcards
What is an intermediate design?
Visual and aesthetic design of the user interface, often shown on a computer screen or another device. Includes colours, shapes, sizes and style to support and enhance the functionality. Often you can push buttons (clickable prototype) It is NOT as detailed as detailed design
What is a detailed design?
Uses materials that you would expect to be in the final product. It is a prototype that looks more like the final system and users could confuse it with a full system
What is the F-pattern?
Eye-tracking research showed that the users focus is on the upper left corner of the screen
How can we use colours in our design?
To place focus of attention on something, to show the state of something, to make information clear and to make the interface more attractive
Keep in mind when using colours
Beware of contrast, never rely solely on colour and remember that colour blindness affects 7-10%, predominantly males
Why use images in your design?
They are good for getting attention, they show information, they help if people have little understanding of the language, and they can assist with the interaction
