Five step process of running an interview
- Introduction 2. Warm-up session 3. Main session 4. A cool-off period 5. Closing session
Keep in mind during Main sessions
Avoid using yes or no questions (closed questions), avoid long questions, split up sentences for easier understanding, use language the interviewee understands, avoid asking leading questions.
Keep in mind during Closing sessions
Ask if the interviewee has something to add, summarise what you learned, ask for the interviewees opinion on the issues, thank the participant
What is an interview guide?
Important for conducting an interview, contains for example questions to ask and instruction text.
Where to conduct the interview?
In the environment where the system will be used, where the interviewee feels safe
Types of data recording
Written notes, recorded audio, recorded video, photos. These can be combined.
Who to interview?
Current or potential users of the system, stakeholders

Summarise the background, summarise the results
