3. Prototyping and Tools Flashcards
What is a user interface prototype?
A potential design solution for a specific problem
What is the fidelity of a prototype?
It describes how closely the prototype replicates the appearance and user experience of the final system
Types of prototypes depend on…?
Factors like testing goals, design completeness, available tools, and resources
Wireframing
Wireframes are a type of prototype, but not all prototypes are wireframes. They show user flows, page layout, and the overall structure of the design (skeleton of the design). They can range from simple sketches to more detailed design. They outline the placement of elements and focus on layout without including distracting details like logos, images or colours.
LoFi
Low-fidelity prodotypes have no clickable functionality. Hand-drawn/digital. Minimal or no visual details, often basic sketches or wireframes. Usually a summary or placeholder rather than the final version
HiFi
High-fidelity prototypes are highly interactive, with many or all clickable links and menus functioning as they would in the final system. They respond to the users actions. They are detailed and accurately represent the final design
Initial mapping
The objective for making a map. It is to get an overview of the system. It is not to detailed and not to simplistic (5 - 15 steps max) Instructions; The user groups on the left, user goals on the right and steps to achieve the goals in the middle
What is a prototype?
Prototype is an initial, working model
