What is employment of children act?
To protect the wellbeing of children and to have byelaws to look after people under the age of 18 in the workplace.
Advantages of the employment of children
- Protects children and their rights
- Gives every employers the same standards to uphold.
Disadvantages of the employment of children
- It can reduce the amount of jobs available for under 18’s
- there is no way to enforce the act in every work place
- some children may need to work to support family members, the act restricts this
How many hours can an under 18 year old work before taking a break?
4 1/2 hours
How many hours can an over 18 year old work before taking a break?
6 hours
How long are under 18’s breaks per every 4 1/2 hours?
30 minute break every 4 1/2 hours
