What did Piaget believe?
Focused on the environment as if children were on their own
Environment and child interact- child is active
What does it mean that the child is active?
Learns by continually interacting with the environment and shape their own development
Why do children go through a progressive reorganisation of mental processes?
Due to biological maturation and environmental experience
What discrepancies do children experience?
Discrepancies between what they already understand about the world and what they discover in the environment
Why is cognitive development a maturational process?
As the brain becomes more complex, higher levels of thinking are allowed
