Related families comprise an order.

Family + Eg
A group of genera with certain common characteristics form a family.

Similar species constitute a genus.

Why do we use what naming system
Common names are sometimes variable and confusing thus we use Binomial nomenclature.

First part of the organism name is the genus. Second part is species.
