4.7.3.5 Global Warming Flashcards
1
Q
Global warming:
A
- the fact that temperatures around the world are increasing
- due to increases GHG emissions resulting in more heat being absorbed and trapped by the ozone layer and being reflected back to the Earth → heating up the Earth
2
Q
Biological consequences of global warming:
A
- melting of ice caps → habitat loss
- rising sea levels - > reducing habitats as low-lying areas will be flooded with salty water
- temperature and rainfall levels will affects migration and therefore the distribution of different species → as they may no longer be able to survive where they live
- organisms will become extinct as their habitats are lost - reducing biodiversity
3
Q
What is contributing to ‘global warming’?
A
- levels of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere are increasing
- this contributes to ‘global warming’
