4.7.3.5 Global Warming Flashcards

1
Q

Global warming:

A
  • the fact that temperatures around the world are increasing
  • due to increases GHG emissions resulting in more heat being absorbed and trapped by the ozone layer and being reflected back to the Earth → heating up the Earth

Q

Biological consequences of global warming:

A
  • melting of ice caps → habitat loss
  • rising sea levels - > reducing habitats as low-lying areas will be flooded with salty water
  • temperature and rainfall levels will affects migration and therefore the distribution of different species → as they may no longer be able to survive where they live
  • organisms will become extinct as their habitats are lost - reducing biodiversity
