Q

What is OOP’s small size strategy for River Check Down Pots?

A

B33.

OOP EvCheck low relative to IP EvCheck, because a good amount of the time we’ll face a bet.

If we check to IP, he may have a medium hand, and when he makes that bet we have tough time bluff catching. When we bet, it makes it less clear for IP what he should do facing our bet and he will often make mistakes.

Q

What is OOP’s large size strategy for River Check Down Pots?

A

B100.

When IP checks back:
1 - he is capped and
2 - there are going to be times that we were planning to XR the turn.

So when we arrive at this spot, we have a lot of strong hands that IP does not have, a polarity advantage and when ranges interact this way, it serves us to bet full size, because we can extract max value with our best hands and have a lot of bluffs to generate fold equity.

Q

What are OOP’s strategies for River Check Down Pots, broken into tiers of hands?

A

All type of boards operate similarly, so strategies are executed similarly.

Tier 1 (Top of range) - mixes B100,B33,X
Tier 2 (Secondary hands) - plays B100
Tier 3 (Under secondary hands) - plays B33
Tier 4 (Hoping to see showdown) - X, X-F
Tier 5 (Bluffs) - mixes B100,B33,X - Remember the point that best bluffs come from hands that contain the same cards in our value region.

Q

What is IP’s size strategy for River Check Down Pots?

A

B67.

B67 is useful because IP has large equity advantage after being checked to three times.

IP’s range cannot support B100, and EvCheck is better than B33 (because by checking our marginal hands we are closing action, otherwise we would be reopening action to OOP for a possible XR).

Q

What is IP’s strategy when facing a bet from OOP in River Check Down Pots?

A

Bluff-raise wider, call less, fold more.

Find bluff raises in all spots.

Raise sizes dependent on whether new nutty combos have been introduced to our range.

Board pair blockers are better bluff catchers than PPs of higher absolute hand strength.

Q

What is IP’s strategy when facing a X-R from OOP in River Check Down Pots?

A

We lean call with at least some blockers, else fold.

3B bluffs come from same cards in 3B value range.
