4.20 General:

A. Court officers shall at all times, while on duty, wear the uniform and articles of equipment as prescribed in the CORP manual.

All uniforms and equipment must conform with the standards and specifications issued by the Department of Public Safety on behalf of the First Deputy Chief Administrative Judge.*

B. Court officers SHALL NOT wear their uniforms while off-duty EXCEPT:

  • to and from work
  • during meal breaks
  • or as authorized by a superior officer AND the Department of Public Safety.*

4.20 General:

C. Court officers shall maintain their uniforms in a NEAT, CLEAN and SERVICEABLE condition.

E. Inspection of uniforms and equipment will be conducted by supervisory officers AT LEAST TWICE ANNUALLY. Officers will be directed to replace equipment or uniforms no longer meeting standards. Failure by an officer to follow such direction may result in disciplinary action. 🚨

F. When in uniform outdoors, a court officer SHALL wear an approved and appropriate UNIFORM OUTER GARMENT AND CAP. *

G. Neck adornments (e.g., necklaces and chains) must be worn UNDER the
uniform shirt.

H. A court officer, while on duty, shall comply with the following safety and performance requirements:

 2. - Hair will not be worn so that it falls 
       over the eyebrows or reaches collar.
 - The length and bulk of the hair should

4.21 Shield and Identification Card:

A. Court officers shall:

B. PROMPTLY REPORT to their supervisor ANY LOST or DAMAGED shield or identification card. Loss of a shield or identification card must also be reported to the police agency where the loss took place.*

4.30 Prescribed Uniforms:

A. Class (A) Dress Uniform:

a. Navy blue uniform pants with a black mohair braid 1⁄2 inch wide covering the outer seam. Female officers are permitted, as an option, to wear a navy-blue skirt not more than 1” above or 2” below the knee. *

b. “Navy blue uniform blouse with epaulets, breast pocket flaps, waist pocket flaps, brass buttons with state insignia, authorized uniform patch on each sleeve, collar brass with shield affixed.” *

c. Long sleeve uniform shirt with the authorized patch on each sleeve:

  1. For all ranks below Sergeant, except as provided in (3), the uniform shirt is a DARK BLUE, military type.

  1. For the rank of Sergeant and ABOVE, the uniform shirt is a WHITE military type.

d. “Black clip-on tie with authorized tie clasp.”

e. Black socks.

f. Plain-tip black military-type shoes.

g. Black leather garrison-type belt at least 1-1/4” in width with a plain buckle. *

h. Eight-point uniform hat with black strap and appropriate New York State cap device. *

i. White gloves.

  1. The Dress Uniform MUST be worn on all ceremonial occasions unless otherwise ordered. *

  3. Navy blue WAIST LENGTH, lightweight nylon jacket with epaulets, breast pockets, gold buttons bearing the New York State seal, slash side pockets, and detachable lining, affixed with authorized patch on each sleeve, collar brass, and service stripes.
