400-08 City Vehilce Crashes Flashcards
For city vehicle crashes with no injuries and drivable vehicles
Shall be moved to a safe site off of freeway or roadway
If no one is injured
Immediately notify dispatch then move vehicle off of roadway
Who is the only person who can authorize vehicles to be moved if injury is reported
Vehicle Crimes Division supervisor
Crash Investigation Area (CIA)
30 mile radius from the Houston police Department Edward A. Thomas building
Damage to shop
Reasonable estimated to require less than $1000 to repair
If crash inside city limits
Immediately notify the Emergency Communications Division
*immediate supervisor shall be contacted by the employee and go to the scene if on duty
If in the a 30 mile radius (CIA) but outside city limits.
Notify local LE and an on duty vehicle crimes unit supervisor as soon as possible
If the crash is outside of city limits and not investigated by VCD
Generate correspondence describing incident and along with a copy of any reports shall be sent through chain of command to the VCD
If the city crash occurred outside of the CIA and involves SBI or a fatal
Notify command center as soon as possible
VCD will automatically be assigned when:
A) HPD or HFD vehicle
B) SBI or fatality or possibly fatality to any person
If there is a fatality involving a city vehicle who is responsible for notifying next of kin?
VCD supervisor
In crash at intersection, major, and city vehicle VCD supervisor shall advise dispatcher to notify
Public works and Engeneering
Who recommends the employees on the crash review board?
Assistant chief and confirmed by the chief of police
*AC and confirmed by the chief
Who shall serve as an advisory capacity to the CRB?
Training division
Solo crashes that are on duty or ej shall be investigated by
VCD
Solo crashes off duty but In city limits
VCD
Any crash not investigated by VCD
Notify division commander in writing
If it’s an outside agency vehicle
No crash report
COMMAND CENTER NOTIFICATIONS: in the event of a crash
A) fatality or possible fatality
B) employee or citizen who is transported for SBI
C) 3 or more city vehicles
D) involves a vehicle police pursuit
E) creates a hazardous condition that could endanger life
F) likely to draw attention of media
In these situations, the supervisor shall provide the following information
G) the number of fatalities
H) the name and number of persons SBI
I) number of vehicles
J) the time and location of the crash
K) name, division or assignment, and telephone number of the person investigating the crash
Each division shall maintain ____ days of inventory of office supplies
7 days
