4: TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE Flashcards
the set of knowledge, skills, experience and techniques through which humans change, transform and use our environment in order to create tools, machines,
products, and services that meet our needs and desires.
Technology
It offers the capacity of storing messages temporarily to reduce network congestion
Circuit Switching
Packets can be routed around network congestion. Packet switching makes efficient use of network bandwidth
Packet Switching
independently sent and can take different paths throughout the network
Datagram Packets
uses a logical connection between the source and the destination device
Virtual Circuit
It offers a dedicated transmission channel that is reserved until its disconnected
Circuit Switching
Dedicated channels can cause delays because a channel is unavailable until one side disconnects. It uses a dedicated physical link between the sending and receiving devices.
Circuit Switching
Packets can get lost while taking alternative routes to the destination. Messages are divided into packets that contain source and destination information
Packet Switching
computer that holds the user accounts, computer accounts, organizational units, and application services.
Active Directory Domain Service (AD DS)
machine that helps the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server is a server that configures IPv4 and IPv6 addresses specifically in giving names to each IP address up to its root recognition.
Domain Name System (DNS)
machine that holds and manages documents
File server
machine that holds user mail services, and web services
Web Server II
device that connects printers to client computers through the internet and accepts print jobs from the computers, queues these jobs, and sends them to the appropriate printers.
Print Server
hardware device designed to receive, analyze, and send incoming packets to another network. It can be compare to a simple mailbox placed at the corner of a street and which represents your single point of entry to the worldwide network.
Router
Its main job is to move, transfer, or assign a computerized information from one place to another.
Internet
concerns itself with understanding how knowledge is creatively applied to organized tasks involving people and machines that meet sustainable goals.
Technology
Aspects of Technology
- Technology is about taking action to meet a human need
- It uses facts, practical craft knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge
- It involves organized ways of doing things
an increase in the efficiency of a product or process that results in an increase in output without an increase in input.
Technological Change
a term used to describe incremental change in the quality and quantity of knowledge and ideas that are applied in the stream of activities to enhance the social and economic well being of the society.
Technological Change
Stages of Technological Change
Invention, Innovation, Diffusion
encompassing the generation of new ideas. forming a new thought having a potential to apply in economy.
Invention
assumed that the frequency of inventions was determined by the scientific knowledge and the invention is dispersed in almost accidental way in time
Invention
encompassing the development of new ideas into marketable products and processes. Innovations is the first commercial application stage of invention.
Innovation
