What is Pronunciamiento?
Form of military rebellion or politicisation of the army (usually specific to Spain after 1820), often in the form of a manifesto.
What is Desamortización?
‘to disentail’ - Liberal Spanish government seized land and sold it, including from Catholic Church, in an effort to reform the Antiguo Régimen from the late 18th century to the early 20th century.
Define Oligarchy
When a small group of the elite rule over the majority population.
What is Caciquismo?
People who would manipulate elections in the Turno de Partido.
What is Anarchism?
A political system where no government or state rules over the population. They advocate voluntary organisation and direct action.
What is National Regionalism (catalonia)?
Political movement or ideology which aims to give a region more power in relation to the central government or establish an independent state altogether. [In Catalonia this was originally a cultural nationalism e.g. retaining language tradition]
