Chaplain program coordinator
Recruit volunteers chaplains
Makes recommendations to the chief about future chaplains
Maintains a roster of chaplains and manages on call rosters for them
Prepare and submits reports to the chief when requested
Ensures chaplains are getting the training to be better
Chaplain duties and responsibilities
Assist in death notifications to citizens and members of the department
Attends graduations for invocations
Present to the academy about their duties
Make referrals for specialized help if they cannot help
Participate in training provided by the chaplain coordinator
Visit members of the department as directed
What are the qualifications of a chaplain
Ordained members of they faith for at least 2 years
Must be engaged in ministry as a principal vocation for 2 years
Must be in good standing with their faith. Letter of recommendation required from their faith
Good skills and moral character
How are chaplains compensated?
Are not paid. Volunteers only.
Covered under volunteer liability policy up to the limit.
Will be reimbursed for miles driven while performing their duties. Must use forms provided by the department
On call duties of a chaplain
Report to the scene and check in with incident commander.
Keep id displayed at all times
Must obey all traffic laws
Available to be contacted by dispatcher by telephone unless otherwise noted
