What does Alessi do and what is it known for?
Founded in 1921 originally producing metal tableware.
Alessi expanded into producing many household items, collaborating with industrial designers such as Aldo Rossi, Ettore Sottsass and Phillipe Starck.
Their products are recognisable for the use of colour, and fun design.
What does Apple do and what is it known for?
An American technology company that is best known for its designs of personal computers, the iPhone and portable media players such as the iPod.
Their ethos of combining stylish design with a great user experience has made them the world’s largest technology company, with a high level of brand loyalty.
What does Braun do and what is it known for?
The company started in Germany in the 1920s producing radios and record players.
His product design was renowned for simplicity, but with a high level of user friendliness through to the smallest detail.
Braun’s range expanded to include shavers and other household appliances.
What does Dyson do and what is it known for?
In 1978 James Dyson made improvements to the traditional vacuum cleaner.
Five years and 5,127 iterations later he developed the first bagless cleaner. Dyson Ltd is now a global technology company producing household products with quality and functionality at the top of its agenda.
What does Gap do and what is it known for?
Founded in 1969 selling jeans and records, Gap is now a global fashion business selling their distinctive range of casual clothing in 90 countries.
Denim, and their classic 5 pocket jean is still at the heart of the business with a continual focus on attention to detail, comfort and design.
What does Primark do and what is it known for?
The first clothing store opened in Dublin in 1969. There are now 360 stores worldwide.
Their range now includes shoes, beauty products and homewares.
It operates at the low-cost end of the market for shoppers seeking the latest fashions at modest prices: known as a fast fashion brand.
What does Under armour do and what is it known for?
Founded in 1996 in America by Kevin Plank, an American football player who was tired of having to change out of the sweat soaked t-shirt worn under his jersey.
He developed a moisture-wicking synthetic fabric that keeps athletes cool and dry.
From this lightweight fabric, Under Armour was born and it is now a global brand with a range of performance apparel.
What does Zara do and what is it known for?
Zara is a Spanish clothing retailer founded in 1975.
With over 2,000 stores worldwide Zara leads in fast fashion with its highly responsive supply chain.
Its efficient design, production and distribution business model enables Zara stores to receive new designs weekly.
