A

Sanctity of life broken in just war theory, why not here?
Consider quality of life of the baby.
Lesser of two evils when it comes to rape. The women shouldn’t have to be reminded of it every time she looks at her child.
Jesus said love our neighbour as our selves. Could be a loving thing to do.

It’s a sin, however
The double effect principle says that pregnancy can be stopped by a different treatment. A cancer sufferer can have chemotherapy even if it kills the child.
Rape victims should be offered counselling and they can put the child up for aboption.

A

They feel it is wrong.
Turning off a life support machine when declared brain dead is accepting God’s will.
Doctrine of the double effect. You can give painkillers that might shorten life but will end pain.
Extraordinary treatment that causes pain and puts off death for a short time can be refused.

A

A id to help with natural disasters. Provide food, shelters, medicine
F undraise to send money and fund everything.
O ffer education. Educate us and people in 3rd world so they can get a job.
D evelopment projects like hospitals and wells. Improve the quality of life.

A

The golden rule. It is what you would want.
Parable of the sheep and goats. They don’t have shelter or food.
The pope wrote that they should do it.

Freedom of speech.
Show both points of view so people can make informed choices.
Britain is a multi faith society so different religious views have to be discussed.
To progress as a society, we need open debate on things.

St Paul taught people that they would be raised from the dead like Jesus.

Not scarred of death as they won’t die.
No reincarnation. They won’t have another chance on this earth do they try and make the most of it.
Lead good lives so they can get to heaven.
Gives life meaning and purpose.
Peace of mind that we will be able to meet the dead again.
A greater love and respect for God.

What are the non religious reasons reasons for believing in LAD?

A

Near death experiences. Clinically dead people have come back to life. They have an out of body experience where they see their own body and feel happy.
The spirt word. They believe that there are spirits that are around. Mediums have contacted sports and found information only the dead person would know.
Evidence of reincarnation. The idea that after death you are reborn in a new body. An Indian Boy said he had a past life. He coils write though he hadn’t been educated and his hand writing matched a dead boys.

Why do some people, not believe in life after death?

A

They aren’t religious so have no reason to presume that there is life after death.
Jews, Christians and Muslims say there is judgment while, Sikhs Hindus and Buddhists believe in reincarnation. They would match up if it were true.
Where would we go? Space programs have shown there is no heaven and there is no non-material place for souls.
We recognise people through their bodies. If we where just souls, we couldn’t recognise or communicate with each other.
Science says that thought happens in the brain. After death, there is no brain to think with.

Explain the sanctity of life.

A

Christians think that life is scared and holy. All life comes from God so only he should chose when it starts or ends. We are made in the image of God and have some of him in us. The bible says human life is sacred.

Life support costs a lot. It should be used to help living people

Life support is playing God. Turing it off is accepting his will

It is not their place to say what is right or wrong.
It is racial hatred and discrimination to fault other faiths
It is wrong to go against God’s will.
Cause offence and upset.
Information could be wrong.
The media should remain un biased and shouldn’t give opions.

What is the law on abortion?

A

Up to 24 weeks. This can be extended if the mothers life is at risk. Two doctors must agree. The mental state of the child or other children has to be considered.
There must be a risk of the child being born severally disabled.

Why is abortion a controversial issue?

A

Is it murder? It has a heart beat, so is alive. It hasn’t been born so it isn’t alive.
Who has the right to decide? The mother, doctors, or farther. It is the mother’s body but the farther is half the boy.
Is 24 weeks too late? Babies have been born earlier. However is might not be viable.
Should a disability be a reason for it? Will the quality of life be good? Disabled people have lived full lives. Life is special.

Why is Euthanasia controversial?

A

Should it be legal? If it isn’t passive euthanasia is used and its painful.
Non-volentary euthanasia. How do you know what they would want.
You have the right to control your own body.
We put down animals, why not humans.
A cure may be found. People are pressured into it. Trust in doctors lost.
