1
Q
Independence (aseity)
A
- God exists independent of His creation and does not need it in any way,
- however God’s creation does reflect his glory and was created for His pleasure (Exod. 3:14; Acts 17:24-25; Rev. 4:11)
2
Q
immutability
A
- God is unchanging in His being (Mal. 3:6), purposes and promises
- but He is able to respond to different situations (Jonah 3:4); [such as prayer and immorality (Gen. 6:6).]
3
Q
infinite
A
God is not subject to any of the limitations of humanity or of creation in general
4
Q
eternal
A
- God has always existed and will never cease to exist.
- God is able to see all time equally,
- yet can interact in time (Isa. 46:9-10: John 17:5)
5
Q
omnipresent
A
- God is fully present in every part of creation, but is distinct from it (Gen. 1:1; Ps. 139:7-10).
6
Q
Simplicity
A
- His is not divided into parts
- each attribute characterizes the whole being of God
- And each attribute modifies each other
7
Q
What does it mean for God to be impassable?
A
- God cannot suffer harm (Acts 14:15) [God is capable of feeling emotions to different situations; such as love (Isa. 54:8), pity (Ps. 103:13), anger (Ex. 32:10), grief (Eph. 4:30), and can rejoice (Isa. 62:5).]
