What was the Kapp Putsch?

A
  • in March, 1920 Wolfgang Kapp gathered 5000 men (free corps) and took over Berlin
  • he aimed to take over the whole country, make the army strong again and recover the land Germany had lost from the t of v
  • Ebert and the rest of the government fled from Berlin
  • Kapp didn’t have the support from the workers and they went on strike (there was no water, gas, electricity, or trains)
  • after 100 hours, Kapp fled abroad and Ebert and his government returned to the capital
