Barristers have full rights of audience which means they can appear in any court in England and Wales.
What do barristers give?
Advice, write “opinions”, host case conferences with solicitors and witnesses, draft legal documents such as a Defence and help with negotiations.
What fees can a barrister collect?
Brief fees- Fees for taking on a case.
Advice fees- Fees for providing written advice.
Court fees- Fees for days in court if the matter proceeds to trial.
What can a barrister apply to be made after 10 years of practice?
A King’s Council (KC).
What can a KC do that normal barristers can’t?
Take on more complex cases.
Charge higher fees.
Have a junior barrister to assist with a case.
