A
  1. Private room/doors shut when discussing private information.
  2. Store private information in a secure place e.g. In a locked cabinet or a password protected computer.
  3. No gossiping about patients personal details
  4. Only pass on information on a “need to know” basis.

What is meant by “need to know” basis?

A

Restricting who has access to private information

Only passing the information on to people who have a reason to know
E.G doctors may pass on private information to a surgeon before you have an operation.

When a person is at risk of harm from others e.g. Abuse

When a person is at risk of harming others..

When a person is at risk of harming themselves

When a serious law is broken e.g a doctor found out your drug dealing or when serious crime is being committed.
