Electrical current
The amount of charge passing a point per second.
The volt
Work done per unit charge.
The amp
One Coulomb of charge passing a point in one second.
Ohms Law
The current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference applied so long as physical conditions remain constant.
EMF (Electromotive Force)
The work done per unit charge on the electrons by the chemical process in a cell or by a magnetic field in a wire.
Electrical potential difference
The difference in potential between two points in a circuit, the electical potential energy transferred to a component in a circuit per unit charge.
Lost volts
The potential drop due to an internal resistance.
Internal resistance
The resistance created by electrolytes and materials in a cell.
Terminal P.D
The EMF of a cell minus the lost volts.
Resistivity
The constant of proportionality in R = pl / A .
